1)Is anyone aware of literature (preferably primary) on nest site selection in Terrapene and or other primarily terrestrial species?

2)Has anyone noticed an increase in the number of box turtles nesting in the morning in 1999? This summer we had 10 start to nest (7 successfully) in the morning. The total number of nesting females at the site is about the same.We have been observing turtles here since 1989 and have never before seen this many morning nestings.
